Atmosphere
With the elegance of the old school, yet never outdated. The décor is modern and welcoming, the service attentive and warm. The hostess and head of the house is Yvonne Tschebull. Her style: refined, without any stiffness. This suits a grand evening just as well as a lunch with a harbor view.
The setting
Van-der-Smissen-Strasse 1, between the Elbe and the Altona Fish Market. From the spacious dining room, you can look out over the Elbe, the shipyard, and the harbor cranes, with ships passing right by. Inside there are 140 seats, and 70 more on the terrace. Reservations are worthwhile.
Drink pairing
The wine list is a delight: Champagne from Veuve Clicquot to Dom Pérignon alongside reasonably priced white wines from Rheinhessen to Meursault, plus rarities and grand crus. At the bar, there's Pisco Sour, Mezcal Margarita, and the Cool Geisha with sake and yuzu. Non-alcoholic? Nogroni, Rose Sour, and alcohol-free sparkling wine.
