Hamburg's first interactive restaurant guide — editorially curated, multilingual and interactive
With The Menù, a new digital flagship project for Hamburg's dining scene launches. The new restaurant guide combines editorially curated recommendations with an intelligent restaurant finder, making the culinary diversity of the Hanseatic city interactive, multilingual and precisely tailored for the first time — online and as an app.
Available in [four/five — please confirm] languages, The Menù speaks directly to Hamburg's most important tourism source markets and aims to make the city's restaurants more visible to visitors from Germany and abroad over the long term. The platform was developed by the Hamburg-based agency Kaiserhappen in close collaboration with restaurateurs as well as partners from tourism and the culinary world.
A new perspective on Hamburg's restaurants
The Menù is deliberately not a review portal. No stars, no points, no rankings. Instead, the platform relies on personal, editorially curated recommendations.
The Menù brings together a continually updated selection of around [119 / please confirm number] restaurants — from Hamburg's Michelin-starred and fine-dining establishments to young, innovative concepts, long-standing classics, distinctive neighbourhood spots and culinary discoveries. Every restaurant has been visited in person and described editorially.
The focus is not on ratings but on stories: concise restaurant portraits tell of a venue's cuisine, atmosphere, drink pairings and philosophy — specific, close-up and free of marketing speak.
The intelligent online restaurant finder
The starting point is a simple question:
"Where shall we go today?"
Rather than leaving users alone with thousands of results, The Menù guides them through an intelligent five-step matching process to a small selection of fitting restaurants. It takes into account occasion, mood, sense of adventure, company and price.
The offering is complemented by monthly changing collections on themes, neighbourhoods and culinary discoveries.
A platform for guests and restaurateurs alike
The Menù sees itself not only as a guide for visitors but equally as an international platform for Hamburg's restaurant scene.
Inclusion is based solely on editorial grounds. Restaurants cannot buy their way in; every recommendation rests on a personal visit and journalistic selection. The aim is to make restaurants visible exactly where people are searching for precisely this kind of culinary experience.
The Menù is financed not by the restaurants themselves but through long-term partnerships with companies and institutions that wish to support Hamburg's culinary development.
Among the first partners and supporters are Chefs Culinar, OPEN MOUTH.hamburg and Hamburg Tourismus GmbH.

Behind the project
The Menù was developed by the Hamburg agency Kaiserhappen. Founders Stevan Paul and Oliver Wagner combine journalistic expertise, culinary experience and digital product development. Together with their team, they pursue the goal of making Hamburg's exceptional restaurant scene accessible in a contemporary and international way.
"You don't recommend a good restaurant with points and rankings. You tell people why you want to go back. That's exactly what The Menù does — almost as if good friends were recommending their favourite restaurant." Stevan Paul, co-founder of The Menù
"We didn't set out to build a restaurant database. Our goal was a digital product that provides orientation and is fun to use. The Menù combines journalistic content with intelligent technology. It makes choosing a restaurant as easy as it is personal." Oliver Wagner, co-founder of The Menù
With its journalistic approach, its intelligent restaurant finder and its international outlook, The Menù aims to set new standards for digital restaurant guides — and at the same time help to further establish Hamburg as one of Europe's most exciting culinary destinations.
