Kimdo Weinbar

A cozy gem in Winterhude: Kimdo combines the relaxed atmosphere of a personal wine bar with a small terrace and unusually ambitious cuisine – approachable, unpretentious, and pleasantly intimate.

At a glance
Rare and top-notch: Korean cuisine meets wine bar! At Kimdo, Moon-Jung Kim serves small dishes to share, shaped by Korean flavors and Japanese lightness. She uses chili and garlic deliberately sparingly. This suits the carefully curated wine selection perfectly!
What you should know

Drink pairing

Her husband, Martin Dobner, personally advises guests on around 120 wines, mostly from smaller wineries that work authentically and biodynamically. Thanks to Coravin, special bottles can also be discovered by the glass upon request.

The kitchen

Chicory with wasabi vinaigrette, bibimbap with egg yolk and tobiko, ssam bulgogi, soba noodles in dashi or shrimp tempura: bold-flavored miniatures spanning Korea and Japan, precise and surprisingly light. For traditionalists, the menu also offers aged Comté, a potato-walnut bread, and a fine Spanish tinned fish.

More

From music to the stove: Moon-Jung Kim was a double bassist with the Seoul Philharmonic, later trained as a chef, and worked for a long time under star chef Klaus Erfort. Today she runs Kimdo together with her husband Martin Dobner. It's a rare pleasure to sample wines here in the rather unusual context of Korean-Japanese cuisine.
