Gsellmanns

The restaurant, in the lively and popular quarter around Osterstraße, sits in the basement of a residential building. Inside it is cosy, with checked tablecloths, dark green upholstered benches and shelves full of cookbooks. In summer the small terrace is especially popular with the mixed crowd that gathers here – everyone feels at home.

The kitchen
The seasonally changing menu from head chef Marco Krüger keeps surprising with creative originals such as goat's cheese dumplings with panko crumble and beetroot-white cabbage salad, or celery-coconut soup with tomato salad and baked basil. Vegan and vegetarian dishes are just as much a given here as recipes built around fish and meat.
What you should know

The kitchen

Upscale bistro cooking with classics and creative new takes. The Wiener Schnitzel here is perfect: airy, soufflé-light breading, tender meat and a loose potato-cucumber salad on the side. Equally inspired is the Tafelspitz on toasted brioche with Frankfurter Grüne Sauce. The bouillabaisse impresses with depth and extra pan-fried pieces of fish.

Drink pairing

Host Laura Gsellmann and her team look after their guests' wellbeing warmly and personally. On top of that there are carefully chosen wines from around the world, a large selection of alcohol-free pairings, and great cocktails such as the Grapefruit Pink Paloma, plus freshly poured Estrella Damm from the tap.

Insider tip

Here you can eat à la carte or go for the set menu – and, as of recently, every dish can also be ordered in two different portion sizes, depending on how hungry you are.
