The kitchen
The kitchen thinks vegetarian – not as renunciation, but as a culinary given. Seasonal, regional produce forms the basis for dishes that reinterpret familiar classics and are made entirely in-house. Craft over substitutes, flavour over preaching.
The setting
The former Saal II on Schulterblatt has been modernised with real sensitivity. Surviving wall tiles meet light wood, clean lines and large windows – relaxed, urban and easy-going. Café, restaurant and bar flow into one another, and in summer you can sit outside, right in the middle of the Schanzenviertel, with a view of the party.
The philosophy
The three siblings see Blattgold as a family business – and a future institution. Regionality, seasonality and a respectful relationship with producers are as much part of the concept as an appreciative way of working together in the team.
Drink pairing
The bar came first – the restaurant followed later. To this day it remains an essential part of the place, making Blattgold a meeting point for an aperitif or a long evening over wine and cocktails.
Insider tip
At weekends, even the morning is worth it: boozy brunch, homemade cake and good coffee show that Blattgold is more than just an evening restaurant.
