Ristorante Il Vagabondo

Honest cucina casereccia, meaning classic home-style cooking from central Italy, especially from the Abruzzo region. This family-run restaurant has been located right next to the Fabrik in the center of Ottensen since 1997. A typical neighborhood restaurant in the best sense of the word!

Insider tip
As classic and typical as the menu is, it's extraordinary in many respects. Time and again, dishes featuring lentils, white beans, or wild peas make an appearance. Our tip: the scampi with savoy cabbage and white beans, the fresh pasta dishes, or the veal kidneys with mustard sauce.
What you should know

The kitchen

The house's rotating classics are listed on large chalkboards that are brought to the table – those who let hosts Riccardo & Adriana guide them through the daily specials usually eat best here. The same applies to the purely Italian-focused wine list, with prices ranging between €28 and €145.

Atmosphere

Tightly seated, lively, and well-filled with regulars from Ottensen by 8 pm at the latest (with local celebrities popping in time and again). Small and packed – if you enjoy a bustling Italian atmosphere, this is the place for you; if you need plenty of space and quiet, less so.
