Eppendorfer Grill-Station

Between fried chicken, currywurst and chips hides a Hamburg institution. The Eppendorfer Grillstation is not only one of the last classic Imbiss stands in Hamburg, but also the legendary filming location of the WDR cult series Dittsche with Olli Dittrich – a pilgrimage site for fans and, for years now, a fixed feature of the neighbourhood.

The kitchen
The half grilled chicken is juicy, the chips are among the best of their kind, the currywurst is solid. It's especially worth checking out the changing daily specials: chilli con carne, pea soup, sauerfleisch, cabbage rolls or Wurstsalat with fried potatoes – here you quickly notice that chef Oliver Kammerer learned cooking from the ground up.
What you should know

The setting

A genuine Hamburg Imbiss – down-to-earth, lively and spotlessly clean, as my mother would say. Inside, almost everything still looks like it did in the TV series, outside a bench recalls Dittsche. Fans still make the pilgrimage here today, but even without the TV nostalgia, a visit to this cult Imbiss is worthwhile.
